Our Journey
Tribal Vision began in 2006 at Jaya’s property on the Tres Orejas Mesa in Taos, New Mexico — a circle of friends, music, and ceremony that grew into twenty years of gatherings across New Mexico and Colorado, and now returns to where it started to build a permanent home.
It all started when…
In 2006 a circle of friends gathered on Jaya’s land on the Tres Orejas Mesa, outside Taos. There was music, there was ceremony, and there was the mesa itself — and that was enough to bring everyone back the next year, and the year after that.
Twenty years on, that circle has carried the gathering across the Southwest. Tres Orejas in 2009. Taos in 2012 and again in 2015. Two summers in Hotchkiss, Colorado, in 2016 and 2017. Taos Mesa Brewery in 2018, Dixon in 2019. Through 2020 and 2021 we moved with the wheel of the year instead — fall equinox at Tres Piedras, winter solstice in Cochise, spring equinox in Austin, summer solstice back in Taos, an autumn in Velarde — and then the equinox in Santa Fe in 2022.
Different land almost every time. The same circle every time.
And now we come home
In 2026 Tribal Vision returns to the Tres Orejas Mesa for its 20th Anniversary — to the ground where it started, and this time to stay. The Home Lands Project is building a permanent community space there: three tiny buildings raised during the Gathering, the structures Jaya built reconstructed, the 42′ Medicine Dome, and a community shower house.
Twenty years of borrowed ground, and then a home.
